The Organ

St Paul's is equipped with an organ which was installed in 1877 by Mssrs Conacher and Co of Bristol. It is a fine instrument and has been played regularly down the years to appreciative congregations.

In 2018, following a successful fundraising campaign which covered almost all of the £31000 cost, it was restored by Michael Farley Organ Builders of Budleigh Salterton in Devon. It was rededicated at our Sunday service on 1st April 2018 led by the then Bishop of Crediton, The Rt Revd Dame Sarah Mullally.

As a matter of historical interest, when plans were being put in place for the refurbishment, an article which appeared in the North Devon Journal in 1877 was discovered. It describes in some detail the the installation of the organ as well as technical information on its mechanics. It may be downloaded here:
